The
BB Mapper provides a quick and easy not to mention cost effective
way of providing visual map based searching for your web site.
It presents a map of Great Britain split into nations. Each
of these is linked to clickable boundaries representing counties
or unitary authorities. These boundaries can be linked to static
pages of your web site or call to a dynamic
pages of your application. This means that the BB Mapper
is ideally suited as a simple mapping front end to a database.
Click the image to the right to view an explanation of the
interface.
The alternatives are costly GIS applications or cumbersome
drop down lists. Take a look at the demo and
see for yourself.
Static Files:
A single file would exist for each boundary (County
/ Unitary Authority / Nation etc). When the user clicks the
boundary (which turns light blue when the mouse is over it)
the application will call the appropriate static page.
Dynamic Pages:
A single file or application action exists for the whole mapper application.
The mapper passes the necessary information to the file in order for the
dynamic page to display the relevant information. The most obvious use of
this is when the mapper is used as a search utility for searching a database
by administrative region.
